What is the 50/30/20 budget rule?
Budgeting is all about telling your money where to go! With the 50/30/20 budget, you are using percentages to break down your monthly income into more manageable and practical budgeting categories.
Before I got into budgeting I never once thought about financial goals. We paid our bills, we used credit cards, and sometimes we had “extra” money and other times we didn’t (hence the credit card debt). We were just your typical American family, doing our thing.
Oh boy. Then, I was introduced to Dave Ramsey! Ya heard of him? I have known of Dave for awhile now. He introduced me to financial goals and to the debt free lifestyle.
Creating a family budget is just part of the equation, creating (and sticking too) financial goals is the next step. I know, sounds so boring. But I promise this is a much needed intentional act for EVERYONE!
I have been scouring Pinterest, trying to find the “Perfect Morning Routine”. There are a lot of results but none that fit my lifestyle. I mean, some of these mommas have to be getting up at 4:30 am! Every. Day. Where is the “Perfect Morning Routine” for the stay at home mom who likes to sleep in? Does that one even exist?
I am not going to fail before I even get started. I know my limitations. I am NOT a morning person. This morning I woke up at 6:00 am, which is EARLY for me!! I tend to roll out of bed around 7:00 am, just in time to make sure my oldest gets out the front door on time.
So, is there a “Perfect Morning Routine” out there for me? The answer is YES!!! I found it and I bet it will work for you too no matter what kind of morning (or non-morning) person you are!!
As a little girl I always envisioned a fairy tale love story. You know, where Prince Charming comes to the Princess’s rescue, a white dress and a happily ever after. But what those fairy tales don’t tell you is that marriage isn’t always a stroll through the meadow with whimsical creatures, full of sunshine and songs. Your Prince Charming is HUMAN with flaws (like never turning their socks the right side out before throwing them in the dirty clothes hamper). After 12 years of marriage, here is the one piece of relationship advice I am going to give you for a strong marriage.
This is the time of the year when EVERYONE is making New Year's Resolutions and setting goals for the new year. It seems like the first few weeks of the year people do great at goal setting and even keeping to their goals. Then somewhere along the line they seem to fall off the New Year’s Resolution band wagon and never get back on. Why do you think this is? Honestly, most people’s goal setting process isn’t setting them up for success it is setting them up for failure. Does this hit too close to home? Are you thinking about your last year’s goals and how you didn’t knock even one off the list. This year is going to be different! This year you are going to ROCK your New Year’s Resolutions and I am going to tell you how!
Being a stay at home mom I have found it really difficult to get motivated to put myself together each morning. I mean what is the point? Who will see me through out the day? My 2-year-old who clearly could care less about food stains of if I have or haven't showered in a couple days. My 5-year-old who thinks having unmatched and/or holes in clothes is the cool thing to do. My 11-year-old who obviously doesn't pay attention to what I say let alone what I am wearing. OR my husband, who lately, seems gone more than he is home between his military job and his full-time civilian job. So, again I repeat, "what is the point?" The point is...
We are spending this Valentine’s Day apart, come to think of it we were apart last year too. I am starting to think you are doing this on purpose. Haha.
We are coming up on our 11-year wedding anniversary and it has me thinking a lot about our relationship and what it means to me. It is SO EASY for me to go through the day doing the mundane activities that need to be done to make this family run semi-smoothly, that I forget about the things I need to do to show you love.
Sometimes it looks like a bomb went off in my mom bag. Somehow, no matter how much I DECLUTTER my bag, I ALWAYS end up with a ton of stuff. I don’t know how you mommas use tiny purses… there is just no way I could fit everything in there. And trust me when I say I am not one of those overly prepared moms by any means, but I have found that these key things are ESSENTIAL to my MOM BAG!
